Seven ways to annoy your friends on the Snapchat app

Whether you own it or not, you must have heard about Snapchat: you will have talked about whose ‘best friend’ is whose, and may have even heard a rumour that so-and-so sent a naked snap. As soon as I got my iPhone, one of the first apps I downloaded was the (in)famous Snapchat, and I love it! It can be your best friend or your worst enemy when you wake up the morning after a night out. You no longer have to check only your texts, but also who you sent photos to… Below are the top ways to annoy your friends on the app, and yes, I am guilty of them all.

1. Make cheesy pop videos

So I may occasionally send these, but it’s only because I dream of the day that Girls Aloud get back together and look for a sixth member. The best Snapchats are the ‘singing whilst driving my car’ or the ‘I’m having so much fun at pre-drinks’. Either mime or actually sing along, both are great.

2. Draw pictures

Simply take a picture of yourself, get artistic and click send. I find that vegetables, SpongeBob, flowers, hearts, stars, and animals are all good ideas (this screams out “I’M BORED!”, and usually only your best friend replies with a picture of themselves also as an apple, though).

3. Commentate your every move

Morning. Breakfast time. What to do today? Chilling on the sofa. Brushing my teeth. Hair’s getting long. Yum, chocolate! Lunchtime. Jeremy Kyle rocks. I’m lonely. I’m hungry. Naptime… Yeah, you get the gist.

4. Scare your friends

I’m a big fan of this one. Choose the video option and just sit still, looking at the camera sweetly for a few seconds, and then suddenly jump forward towards the camera. Send a few of these, and soon, you’ll have your friends wishing that they never added you on Snapchat.

5. Pose at the gym

There’s nothing more annoying than seeing someone working really hard at the gym, whilst you stuff yourself with cocktail sausages. Whether it be you running on the treadmill, sitting by the weights pouting in the mirror, a picture of the calories you’ve burnt or a ‘the gym ruined me’ complaint, you’ll definitely grind someone’s gears.

6. Send pointless videos

Eating some crisps, a panorama of where you are, your friend talking rubbish or the cat cleaning itself. Pointless videos are always an irritating winner.

7. Rave

By rave, I mean ‘your Saturday night out’ or even ‘your car radio at full-volume whilst you go to get some milk’. Yes, you are having so much fun that you can take time out to video it all. Don’t forget the essential exaggerated pout and head-bob, which would make the best gangster proud.

It’s all good fun: especially the picture of yourself as Spongebob, the endless pictures of your One Direction birthday balloon and the morning after a night out, eating your own body weight in pizza. Annoying? Check.
