Written by Nigel Simpkins

This year hasn’t been on easy on anyone, and you deserve to make the most of Christmas. From spending time with your loved ones in whatever way you can, to simply curling up with a good book and relaxing. Here are some ways you can truly make this the most wonderful time of the year.

Seeing Loved Ones

With national lockdown and varying tier restrictions – a lot of people have struggled not seeing their family and friends regularly. Christmas is all about spending time with your loved ones. Though, of course, you still need to be safe and do what you’re comfortable with. Whether you want to take the Wakefield to London train over the festive travel window, have a social distance meeting, or host a virtual reunion – make sure you get to celebrate with the people who mean the most to you. It may be different, but that won’t make it any less special.

Maybe you’ve spent this past year working from home and didn’t read like you normally would on your commute. Or maybe you’re getting sick from binge-watching. There is something to be said for sitting down with a good book and switching off from the rest of the world. Make sure you give yourself time to actually relax during this break. If you’re looking for some reading inspiration, look no further than right here.

Festive Baking

A fun way you can make the most of your break is to bake some festive treats. From the classic mince pie to a salted caramel Christmas cake – there are plenty of recipes out there. Your house will smell divine and help boost your spirits. Plus not only have you made delicious goodies for yourself, but you could also always share them with your loved ones as well.

Go on a Walk

One tradition you can easily still do with your time off is a Christmas walk. It could even be a way you’re seeing your loved ones over the holidays. Or maybe you want to walk off a piece of that pudding. The UK is home to such charming countryside so make the effort to enjoy it. Also, be sure to check out the local light displays near you.

You deserve to enjoy this Christmas and really make the most of it. From travelling back home to baking delicious treats – you should spend the break however you like. How are you planning on spending your Christmas this year?
