Five bands to watch out for in 2015

1. The Sherlocks

Not a surprise considering the amount of popularity the band gained throughout 2014. They’ve gone from playing covers, to supporting bands like Reverend & The Makers, to selling out gigs. Compared to the likes of The Courteeners, The Sherlocks are probably one of the most exciting bands of 2015. If the single Live For The Moment is anything to go by, their new song Escapade – now available for pre-order on iTunes – will not disappoint.

2. Black Sonic Revolver

Black Sonic Revolver has enough of the typical Manchester sound to make people feel like what they’re listening to is very familiar, but also enough originality and experimentation in tracks like Storm Clouds that means they’re creating something new. They’re recording album number 2 from January 18th, so keep an eye out because I get the feeling it’s going to be something you won’t want to miss.

3. The Hearts

This Welsh three-piece are set to release their debut EP on January 19th and are going on tour at the end of the month. Their single Lips is a full-on flat-out glorious piece of rock music, designed to make every listener sing it at the top of their lungs. It shows they’re capable of having the same effect as bands like Twin Atlantic.

4. Sabella

With catchy hooks and proper Northern vocals (even more so than Alex Turner), this band look set to have an absolutely amazing 2015. They’re touring up and down the country this year, including Manchester, Derby, Portsmouth and Birmingham, so go along and have a listen. You never know, you might end up discovering your new favourite band.

5. The Mantells

Their track Men In Suits is one of the most addictive songs of 2014, and with a slightly dirty garage rock sound (similar to that of The Black Keys), mixed with that beloved Manc swagger, their music sounds really, really cool. There is literally no other way to describe this band – expect big things.
