During the third and final US Presidential Debate, Donald Trump interrupted Hillary Clinton to proclaim that she was "such a nasty woman." Branding Clinton as such seems to have encapsulated Trump's lack of respect for his opposing candidate, and of all women, in a single comment.
However, something beautiful has occured amidst the constant stream of negativity oozing from this campaign, and Trump’s mouth, during the election. The phrase has shed a light on a number of incredible women who are standing up and saying, "No more!" Following the comment, many women took to Twitter to reclaim the title as symbol of female empowerment and solidarity.

Although you may not agree with everything that Clinton stands for, the shining moments in this campaign have come from her supporters. One in particular, was when Michelle Obama gave a speech in New Hampshire. She spoke after a recording came to light of Trump bragging about being able to sexually assault women because he is a, “Star.” Mrs Obama spoke with such elegance and power, that she metophorically destroyed Trump without even mentioning his name. She said:
“But New Hampshire, be clear: this is not normal. This is not politics as usual. This is disgraceful. It is intolerable. And it doesn’t matter what party you belong to – Democrat, Republican, Independent – no woman deserves to be treated this way. None of us deserves this kind of abuse.”
Living in the UK, it is easy to believe that the result does not have an effect on you. However, the election season has highlighted that misogyny is alive and kicking in our world and that it will not stop women. Sticks and stones may break our bones, but at least we are not Donald Trump supporters.
