Last week (specifically January 29th) saw One Direction fans go into meltdown, as Zayn Malik released his debut solo single 'Pillowtalk' after signing a new record deal with RCA Records last year. After leaving One Direction and having written sugary pop songs for the past five years, it is no surprise that his first song is all about sex.

When being interviewed by The Telegraph, Zayn said: "I think I'm pretty black and white what it's about. Everybody has sex, and it's something people wanna hear about. It's part of everybody's life, a very BIG part of life! And you don't wanna sweep it under the carpet. It has to be talked about."

The provocative music video includes appearances from Zayn's girlfriend, supermodel Gigi Hadid, in heated scenes that don't leave an awful lot to the imagination.

Along with his new style, Zayn's new sound seems to be as far away from One Direction as he can get. With his sharp voice and impressive vocals going hand in hand with his new genre of music, this makes a successful departure from the band.

Zayn's debut album Mind of Mine is set to be released on March 25, coincidentally exactly one year after he became a solo artist.
