Spring clean your makeup bag

Spring has finally sprung, the winter chills have finally gone and what better time to give your makeup bags a sort out for the warmer months.

Time for a spring clean.

When it starts to get a little warmer, I’m sure we’d all like a little less makeup on our face to reduce that sticky feeling at the end of the day.

Therefore, I start to bring out the mineral products and ditch my heavy liquid coverage foundation.

The Bare Minerals foundation gives a natural but buildable coverage from just a few washes over with a big fluffy brush. It settles really nicely on the skin with no oiliness whatsoever. Perfect for those days where it’s too warm for thick layers of foundation and you’d rather be making most of the weather!

If you feel your skin could do a little more coverage or you’re not quite brave enough to ditch the full coverage yet, a thick concealer underneath the Bare Minerals foundation works a treat. This one by Maybelline is great, it’s really affordable and the consistency and coverage is up their with premium brands.

Bye bye smokey eye, hello pastels.

Another product I think I’ll be ditching until September is dark smoky eye shadows, much like this MAC pot of pigments. The spring should be all about pastels, fresh skin, and bright colours, rather than caking on the black eye shadow. Instead, maybe opt for the lighter shades and go for some nice highlighting and bright eyes for the warmer months.

Swap the contouring for a natural summer glow.

In the summer months I tend to go out with the contouring and in with the blusher to give a natural look, it compliments big eyelashes and subtle eyes really nicely. A quick swipe of some blusher really picks up the colours in your cheeks whilst looking really natural.

Useful all year round.

Makeup setting sprays are always handy; summer or winter they’re a really good product to have all year round. This one from Avon is the best one out there on the market for a really humble price of £7.00. A quick spritz before you waltz out the door will keep your foundation firmly in place without your skin looking oily.
